PhD in Law from Universidade Portucalense.
After completing his law degree on 22/10/1963, he pursued a career as a land registry registrar, practicing in Celorico de Basto, Vila Verde, Esposende, and Porto. He also held various other positions, including lawyer, criminal investigation judge, land registry inspector, and member of the Conselho Técnico.
 
From 1989 to 2004, he was a professor of Registration Law at Faculdade de Direito de Coimbra, as well as at Aveiro, and taught several postgraduate courses. Since 2007, he has been a professor in the Department of Law at Universidade Portucalense. He is also a CIJ researcher and a member of CENoR and other institutes.
He has published books, presented papers at international conferences, and written articles for various magazines and collections.
