Helena Maria Machado Barbosa da Mota, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto, holds a degree in Law from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (1992); a Master in Legal-Civil Sciences from the University of Coimbra (1998) and PhD in Law from the University of Porto (2010).
Since 1998, she teaches courses on Family and Succession Law and Private International Law in the 1st Cycle of Studies in Law and Family and Succession Relationships (international aspects) and Practicum in the Master's Degree in Law (Area of Legal-Civil Sciences) .
She supervises master's and doctoral dissertations, as well as taking part in jury of academic tests in various Portuguese and foreign higher education institutions. She has been invited to participate, as a speaker, in numerous lectures, conferences and seminars both in Portugal and abroad.
She is member of CIJE – Centro de Investigação Jurídico-Económica, IDADFE - Instituto de desarrollo y análisis del Derecho de Família en España and of Centro Interuniversitario di ricerca su relazioni familiari e successorie nell'Europa del sud.
She has published more than three dozen titles among monographs, articles in national and foreign legal journals and chapters of national and foreign collective works in the field of Family and Succession Law and Private International Law.
