Integrated Researcher
She has a degree in Biology from the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto (1994) and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar of the University of Porto (2002).
She is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto (FDUP), where she teaches in the three cycles of study in Criminology. She is an integrated member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Justice (CIJ) at the FDUP and a collaborating member of the Centro de Estudos Jurídicos, Económicos e Ambientais (CEJEA). She participates in international research projects and networks (e.g. COST - ‘Police Stops’, GERN, ISRD-IV). Her main research interests are experimental and laboratory criminology, biosocial and developmental criminology, urban security and policing.
She is the director of the Criminology Bachelor's programme and chair of its scientific committee. She was director of the PhD programme (2011-2015) and the Master's programme in Criminology (2011-2015). She has been a member of the FDUP Scientific Council since 2013, and of the FDUP Council of Representatives (2014-2017, 2023-...). She was vice-president of the Faculty's Pedagogical Council (2010-2014). She is also a member of the Scientific Committees of the Doctoral Programme in Occupational Safety and Health at U.Porto, the Master's Degree in Forensic Sciences and the Doctoral Programme in Forensic Sciences at U.Porto.
