Junior Researcher
Catarina Cardoso Fonseca has a degree and a master's in Criminology from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto. She is currently a PhD student in Criminology at the same faculty, and her project is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. Over the last two years she has been carrying out scientific research into online fraud, especially analysing the factors that predict cyber-victimisation. She has also studied the factors that increase or decrease the likelihood of reporting cybercrime to formal control bodies. Additionally, she has also spoken at national and international conferences and workshops and has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. Recently, her research focus has been on cyber offenders, especially cyber fraudsters, in an attempt to differentiate them from other criminals.
