Paulo Vieira Pinto

He holds a degree in Social Sciences in the field of Social Psychology, a Master's in Forensic Sciences from the Faculdade de Medicina of Universidade do Porto, and a Ph.D. in Forensic Sciences from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. He is an Assistant Professor at the Faculdade de Ciências Humanas e Sociais da Universidade Fernando Pessoa and an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto and of Instituto Universitário de Ciências da Saúde (IUCS-CESPU).
He is a member of the Conselho do Departamento de Medicina da Comunidade, Informação e Decisão em Saúde and the Centro Pluridisciplinar de Simulação of Faculdade de Medicina at the Universidade do Porto. He also serves as a Guest Speaker at Nova School of Business and Economics Executive Education.
As a Level 4 Forensic Specialist, certified by the Portuguese Association of Forensic Sciences (APCF), he is the co-founder and manager of FOREN, Lda. – Forensic Science Experts.
For 25 years, he was associated with the Forças e Serviços de Segurança, engaging in criminal investigation activities. He served as an Instructor/Trainer at the Escola da Guarda (GNR) in various general and specialized training courses for Guards, Sergeants, and Officers. Additionally, he was a member of the Negociadores da Guarda Nacional Republicana.
He received 6 Commendations for services rendered in the Police Service; Decorations include the Public Security Merit Medal – 3rd Class, Copper Medal, and Silver Medal for Exemplary Behavior; Commemorative Medal for Special Services of the Armed Forces with the caption "Bosnia 1997"; Two Stars Public Attendance Medal and a NATO Medal for participation in operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Since 2007, he has dedicated himself to the study of violence in intimate and gender relationships and its relationship with the criminal justice system. He is currently involved in several ongoing studies and projects, with several publications in international journals, and presentations at national and international congresses, and publications.
