Graduate in Law from the University of Oviedo (1980) and PhD in Law from the Autonomous University of Madrid (1998). Professor of Criminal Law (since 2008). Academic Director of the Master's Degree and Specialisation in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law at the Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno de Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia).
Academic posts: Vice-Dean of Faculty (2003-2006); Director of the Department of Public Law (2008-2010); Dean (since June 2010).
Corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain, since April 2014, and member of the Criminal Law section since March 2023.
Author of numerous monographic publications and in Spanish and international journals.
