ABOUT US
The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Justice (CIJ) is committed to the production of scientific, cultural, and artistic knowledge, the provision of higher education firmly anchored in research, the social and economic valorisation of knowledge, and active engagement in the development of the communities it serves.

PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA
This website does not automatically collect personal data from its users. However, under specific circumstances — namely in the context of registration processes for academic, scientific, or other activities promoted by CIJ — users may be requested to provide personal data.
Such data are collected exclusively through the voluntary completion of forms made available for specific purposes, including subscription to publication alerts and registration for events. Depending on the purpose, the information requested may include full name, email address, and institutional affiliation. In the specific case of subscribing to alerts for new issues of the RED journal, only the email address is required.
The information provided will be used solely to contact users, respond to submitted requests, and send information requested by the users.
The processing of personal data is based on the data subject’s consent, in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The data collected through this website will not be shared with external entities. However, when strictly necessary, CIJ may share such data with project or activity partners, who will have access to the data under legally permissible conditions and solely for legitimate and pre-defined purposes.
Personal data will be retained only for the period strictly necessary to fulfil the purposes for which they were collected, or for the period required by applicable legal obligations.

COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
This website uses cookies that are strictly necessary for its proper functioning, without which adequate performance would not be possible.
In addition, marketing or advertising cookies are used to track visitors’ navigation and collect data in order to display more relevant advertisements tailored to user behaviour.
Statistical or analytical cookies are also employed; these collect information anonymously and generate detailed reports on user interactions with the website.
Cookie management is carried out through the AdOpt platform, which allows users to freely configure their consent preferences. Only the strictly necessary cookies are mandatory, while the others may be declined.

DATA SECURITY AND YOUR RIGHTS
CIJ adopts appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, misuse, loss, or destruction.
For any questions regarding this privacy policy, or to exercise your rights as a data subject, you may contact CIJ at: cij@direito.up.pt.
At any time, you may also exercise your rights, such as the right of access, erasure, restriction of processing, or withdrawal of consent, by sending a request to the same contact. Nonetheless, the exercise of these rights may be limited in certain cases — for example, when it is no longer possible to isolate or identify the data set concerning you, or when complying with the request would compromise the fulfilment of legitimate activities. In such cases, although individual deletion may not be feasible, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure compliance with legal obligations.
If you believe your data is not being lawfully processed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados) – https://www.cnpd.pt/.
Any additional queries regarding the processing of your data may also be addressed to the Data Protection Officer of the University of Porto – dpo@reit.up.pt.

CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY
This policy may be revised and updated periodically to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and to reflect any changes in data processing practices. We recommend that you consult this page regularly to stay informed about any updates.
