From 27 to 29 November, the FDUP will host another edition of the Common Study Programme in Critical Criminology, an international network dedicated to Critical Criminology that is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Under the moto ‘Democracy, Criminology and the Rule of Law’, around 150 participants from 14 leading universities in Criminology around the world will discuss how this discipline can support the study of the transition from authoritarian to democratic states, border control and migration issues, extremism and radicalisation, among other topics.
The opening session will feature guest appearances by Dr Aurora Rodrigues, who resisted the Portuguese dictatorship, retired magistrate of the Public Prosecutor's Office and member of the Portuguese Association of Women Jurists, and Prof Amadeu Recasens i Brunet, who resisted the Spanish dictatorship, retired professor of Criminology and former Security Commissioner for Barcelona.
